In Peacemaker Season 2, Episode 6, “Ignorance Is Chris,” Harcourt, Adebayo, Vigilante and Economos travel through the Quantum Unfolding Chamber to bring Chris Smith back from the alternate world he has chosen as his new home. To Chris, this dimension appears to offer everything his real life denied him. His brother Keith is alive, his father treats him with affection, and the Smith family is celebrated as a heroic team. Instead of being feared or mocked, Peacemaker is admired by almost everyone he meets. The illusion begins to collapse when Vigilante finds his alternate self. The two Adrians share the same favorite things, strange habits and personality traits, but disagree on the one subject that matters most. While the original Vigilante considers Chris his closest friend, his counterpart calls Peacemaker his greatest enemy and says he joined the Sons of Liberty to destroy everything Chris represents. Harcourt then points out something Chris has completely overlooked: since arriving, she has not seen a single person of color. On the street, Adebayo is immediately treated as an escaped outsider and chased by an increasingly hostile crowd. Chris finally notices that the stars on the American flag have been replaced by a swastika. His supposed paradise is actually an alternate America controlled by white supremacists. The world seemed perfect only because its cruelty had never been directed at him. His longing to recover his father, brother and ideal family allowed him to ignore every warning sign around him. Elsewhere, Auggie catches Economos hiding in the Smith house and pins his hand down with a knife. Under pressure, Economos nervously reveals that they come from another dimension and that the Chris living in this world is not Auggie’s original son. At A.R.G.U.S., the alternate Harcourt also recognizes her counterpart and immediately orders the unfamiliar version of herself arrested. By the end of the episode, Chris has received everything he thought would make him happy, only to discover that his dream life depends on the brutal oppression of everyone excluded from it. “Ignorance Is Chris” was written by James Gunn and released in the United States on September 25, 2025.
